A note on boots.

Savate literally means ‘shoe’ and footwear is very important for training. Boots cannot have too much tread, or sharp edges, as these would be unsafe when working with a partner. Likewise, they cannot have been worn outside, making the soles unhygienic.

Savate boots are often expensive and (at the moment) can only be bough in France. Boxing boots are a good alternative for club training. Best not to buy anything before you come, though, as it likely won’t be suitable. I like your enthusiasm, but save your money until you have trained a few times.

To start with, grab a pair of sports shoes or trainers with minimal tread and no metal eyelets, wash the soles under the tap with washing up liquid, then you are good to go for the first few classes. We will help you find the right boots after that.
