Savate Punches
Savate punches are directly taken from boxing rules.
We refer to Savate as boxing, even when we are kicking. The French language makes the distinction by calling boxing boxe anglais.
It is not unusual to use English terms for punches in Savate, while using French words for the kicks, which preserves the split in their origin.
There is an explicit rule that states boxing (with the hands) cannot predominate over kicking in Savate competition. Nonetheless, boxing is maybe the most used cross-training for Savate fighters.
