Savate

Literally an old shoe or boot.

Kicks (coups de pied):

Fouetté

Literally ‘whip’, striking with the toe.

Chassé

Literally ‘drive away’, striking with the heel.

Revers

Literally ‘reverse’ motion, striking with the sole.

Coup de pied bas / balayage

Literally ‘low strike’ or ‘sweep’, striking with instep.

Punches: (coups de poing)

Direct

Straight left (jab) or right (cross).

Crochet

Hook.

Uppercut

Uppercut.

3 heights to strike at:

Bas

Low targets.

Médian

Middle targets

Figure/Haut

High targets.

And two sides:

Avant

Front (usually left) side.

Arrière

Rear (usually right) side.

A referee says:

Saluez-vous

Salute one another.
